About Devnuts
What?
Devnuts is a Philadelphia-based custom software cooperative that houses a pool of experienced web developers and designers, fueled by a team of passionate and driven sales agents.
Why?
In our Third Wave society, we're seeing a massive flood of serious freelance development talent. Freelancers all over the world run extremely successful operations out of homes, apartments, dormitories, co-working offices, etc. Their success is a measure of the demand for software, but the nature of working freelance keeps them away from larger projects.
Devnuts was created with the intention of spreading the wealth. As freelance developers the three founders, Chris, John, and Eric, were constantly turning away jobs because we simply didn't have the time. Additionally, we realized that we were spending just as much time handling clients on a personal level as we were developing. Devnuts was the answer to our problem.
Devnuts has grown from the start with the goal of developing tools and best practices for managing development labor, both in the office and online. We want the development process for projects to be as reusable and efficient as possible, to churn out the best quality products in a time-effective manner.
How?
The company is divided into three potential roles: account managers, project managers, and artisans. By separating these jobs into distinct positions, we enable each other to better focus our time on doing what we want to do. No more being the owner, manager, and the talent wrapped into one.
-
Account Managers
Account managers handle client correspondence and work with project managers to bring projects to fruition. Account managers are responsible for everything involving the client, including managing expectations and being available for contact.
-
Project Managers
Project managers—often the senior artisan—handle individual projects from a development standpoint. Project managers are responsible for developing a plan, setting a cost and a timeline and executing.
-
Artisans
Artisans make the project happen. These are the developers, coders, designers, and artists who create. Their responsibility is whatever is laid out to them by their project manager.
